According to Arabic-language news daily Al-Arabiya, Cairo is already facing shortages of bread and vegetables and food imports have been almost completely suspended. Meanwhile, the future is uncertain for the 70 percent of Egyptians who live on government-subsidized bread.”
CNN also reports that banks are closed and ATM machines are empty. Many gas stations are also running low on petrol:
This is looking more and more like Iran in 1979 every day.  The best thing we can do for the people of Egypt and around the world during these tumultuous times is to pray.
